BOBST Southeast Asia Pacific customer demo days to complement its successful participation at Chinaplas 2024

During Chinaplas 2024, over 100 customers and over 40 companies from across Southeast Asia, such as Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, India, and South Korea, visited the Bobst Changzhou Competence Center in Changzhou JiangSu, to experience live demonstrations of the new technologies and functionalities of the NOVA RS 5003 gravure printing machine and the NOVALAM 800 multi-technology laminator, SX 550 Laminator, and more.

At the Chinaplas 2024 exhibition, held April 23-26, 2024, BOBST showcased a series of innovative technologies and services to a global audience. These advancements actively contribute to the sustainable development of the flexible packaging industry and benefit customers. The BOBST booth attracted a significant number of visitors, creating a lively atmosphere. Attendees showed keen interest in exploring BOBST's innovative products and technologies, engaging in in-depth discussions with the company's professional team.

Gravure Printing Technology: BOBST showcased a series of innovative gravure printing technologies aimed at achieving sustainable development. These include its ECO mode drying system, MPI driven inking rollers, patented twin-flow drying technology, patented total automatic pre-register system (TAPs), 100% recycle LEL control system, new trolleys for fast job changeover, and industry-leading insetting technology. These technologies help customers reduce energy consumption, waste emissions, and contribute to the sustainable development of the flexible packaging industry.

Laminating Technology: BOBST introduced the new VISIONLAM 800 multi-technology laminator. This new machine can handle a wide variety of film and paper substrate and consumable types, both conventional and those designed for recycling, at speeds of up to 450 m/min. The VISIONLAM 800 multi-technology laminator can have a 9 m drying tunnel, which is flat and features motorized rollers! This enhances web handling coupled with best-in-class drying capability. Additionally, BOBST has made several innovations for the existing NOVALAM 800 multi-technology laminator, including increasing the stroke of the unwinder (±50mm) and adding a new 3-roller laminating unit. Regardless, flexible packaging converters can use the VISIONLAM 800 multi-technology laminators with flexo, gravure and solvent-less trolleys, and in-register applications! Moreover, gravure trolleys can run reversible water-based coatings.

Innovative Flexible Packaging Samples: BOBST displayed various samples on-site, such as the oneBARRIER series of mono-material and fiber-based high-barrier solutions. They also showcased flexible packaging samples produced using CI flexo printing, water-based gravure printing, water-based laminating, and oneECG technology. These samples demonstrate BOBST's strong technical and process capabilities in the field of flexible packaging.

One Complete Solution: BOBST's One Complete Solution integrates advanced technologies at every stage of the process: pre-press with smartGPS plate mounting, flexo printing on VISION CI presses, quality control with digital inspection table (DIT), solvent-free laminating on the NOVA SX 550, and connectivity services via BOBST Connect. This production process can be further enhanced by incorporating BOBST's oneECG extended color gamut technology. This solution offers a more productive and cost-effective way for flexible packaging converters to achieve efficient and waste-reducing workflows.

In addition to showcasing spare parts and service products, BOBST also highlighted BOBST Connect. Whether a printer or converter, BOBST Connect helps customers access BOBST's ecosystem of digital services. It provides customers with functions designed to optimize packaging production. BOBST Connect will be newly launched in Asia Pacific in the second half of this year.

BOBST Customer Demo Days at the Bobst Changzhou Competence Center

Four days of machine demonstrations provided a great opportunity for all APAC customers to see the machines operating on the most popular and challenging substrates in this region, including sustainable materials (MDOPE 25 µm printed on the NOVA RS 5003 at 350 m/min, Alufoil 7 µm coated on VISIONLAM 800). Impressed by the printing and laminating quality that BOBST machines deliver and their great experience at the Bobst Changzhou Competence Center, in-depth conversation with Bobst experts took place on various applications and business expansion, and to resolve production pain points.
