PackExpo 2018 indicates significant market potential for Schubert in North America
Packaging specialist Schubert was delighted with the market response to its offering at this year’s PackExpo in Chicago. Fair visitors were especially impressed by Schubert’s latest system component, the Flowmodul, which efficiently packages products in flowpacks and is now available with a new heat sealing technology for sensitive products. The interest shown at the fair and excellent contacts made encourage the acknowledged market leader in top-loading packaging machines from Germany in its strategy to further expand its share in the North American market.
A broad-based spectrum of visitors from diverse sectors
“The entire trade fair was extremely positive for us,” summarized Hartmut Siegel, the new Chief Executive Officer of Schubert North America. “We had very constructive discussions and were able to establish and strengthen several meaningful contacts. The fair confirmed once again the great market potential the North American market offers Schubert. “Among the visitors were companies of all sizes and from all sectors – from start-ups to medium-sized family businesses to large corporations. The food and confectionery industry as well as manufacturers of baked goods were well represented. Schubert was also very satisfied with the contacts made with the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry.
Highlight: the Schubert Flowmodul
The Schubert Flowmodul was a real magnet for visitors at the stand. It was the first time the company presented its latest model variant with improved accessibility for maintenance work and a new, patented heat sealing technology in North America. “The visitors were very impressed with the seamless, space-saving integration of primary and secondary processes,” said Hartmut Siegel. In combination with the new heat sealing technology, the Flowmodul demonstrated its area of application live when packaging sensitive chocolate biscuits. For hot-seal films, the machine adapts seamlessly to the variable speeds of the upstream F44 robots and achieves an output of 250 products or 125 flowpacks per minute. The wide range of sealing technologies that Schubert offers together with the Flowmodul enables customers to select the most suitable processes for their products.
Schubert lightline for standardized packaging tasks
The new Schubert lightline machine series for standard packaging tasks was also presented at the fair. Customers can now select between preconfigured machines from the new lightline product family with predefined product and packaging formats, and freely configurable machines with comprehensive degrees of freedom tailored to individual requirements. In addition to the “lightline Cartonpacker”, the “lightline Pickerline” for pick & place applications and the “lightline Flowpacker” for packaging in flowpacks are also part of the new product family.
Service and support for the North American market
Delivering comprehensive services are always in the foreground for Schubert. And this applies to the North American market as well. High-level accessibility, preventive service and extensive training are par for the course. “Our service offering in North America certainly inspired visitors to the booth,” reported Hartmut Siegel. “This not only applies to the increased availability of service engineers, easy ordering of spare parts and service hotline, but also to our training programs in Charlotte, which we have further enhanced with our latest training machine.” The North American headquarters located there, along with sites in Dallas and Toronto, offer customer proximity and strong support across the continent for Schubert customers.
