In-House Masterbatch Production and Food Grade Applications in the Spotlight at Chinaplas
An interesting solution for production waste from polypropylene tape lines, and how to turn recycled PET and HDPE into food-safe production material: These are the main topics of the two Starlinger divisions recycling technology and viscotec at Chinaplas from April 23-26, 2014 in Shanghai.
recoBATCH: Masterbatch production from in-house waste
Waste from polypropylene tape production is perfect for recycling: Clean and homogenous, it can be processed and recycled without difficulty. Two compelling reasons to recycle production waste on site are the resulting reduction of raw material requirements and, above all, the controlled quality of the regranulate. With the recoBATCH application from Starlinger recycling technology, it can even be upcycled: recoBATCH makes it possible to add calcium carbonate (CaCO3) during the recycling process. Thus, the waste becomes in-house produced masterbatch, which can be used to substitute part of the masterbatch needed in tape production. Starlinger recycling technology will be showing a recoSTAR unversal 65 VAC recycling line with the recoBATCH option at their booth in hall W1/B41.
Food safety without compromise
Among the latest innovations of Starlinger viscotec, exhibiting also in hall W1/booth B41, is the decontamination dryer deCON 20. It is used for processing flakes and recycled pellets from PET and HDPE for use in food grade packaging. Unique to the deCON 20 is its ability to process input material in different forms – e.g. pellets, flakes and skeleton waste – simultaneously. The process is compliant with the relevant FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) and EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) standards, so the material can be used directly for the production of food grade packaging.
The PET sheet line viscoSHEET, newly developed by Starlinger viscotec, produces thermoforming sheets for food packaging from up to 100 % recycled PET.
