MULTIVAC is to put an energy-saving, entry-level model into mass production
MULTIVAC will be showing a particularly energy-efficient, entry-level model, the R 095 e-concept, among the thermoforming packaging machines at IFFA 2013 (Energy efficiency in thermoforming packaging machines (Hall 11.1./11.0.)), the largest international exhibition for the meat industry in Frankfurt. The packaging machine manufacturer presented the e-concept three years ago at IFFA 2010 as a machine design concept. The first machine model went into mass production at the end of 2011.
The hand-produced meat industry is among the particularly energy-intensive trades in Europe. Speciality meat businesses and butchers shops are therefore especially affected by rising energy prices, and they are becoming increasingly interested in energy-saving models for their production and packing.
MULTIVAC will be showing a suitably energy-efficient, massproduction model for entry-level customers at IFFA 2013 (04.-09 May) as part of its section of automatic thermoforming machines. The R 095 e-concept consumes at least 20 percent less energy than comparable models and is particularly suited to small and medium-sized food-producing companies. The lifting units and cutting units are electrically driven. Combined with its innovative forming and sealing processes, the e-concept makes the conventional supply of compressed air and cooling water completely unnecessary. The compact thermoforming packaging machine not only therefore saves energy resources, it is also flexible in its choice of location since all that it requires is a power supply.
"We have replaced all pneumatically-driven modules with electrical drive units, which have a very high degree of efficiency. One effect of this is the comparatively low operating costs for the customer. Another consequence is that the investment costs for putting the machine into service are significantly lower than with comparable models, where companies first have to invest in additional compressed air and water connections", explains Valeska Haux, Marketing Manager at MULTIVAC. In 2010 the e-concept received the award at the Salon de l'Emballage in Paris from the renowned jury of packaging experts.
Integrated slicer
With its overall length of 2.30 metres, the R 095 is also MULTIVAC's smallest machine model in the range of automatic thermoforming machines. This means that it is particularly suited to smaller as well as larger hand-production companies.
The R 095 is equipped with an interface for installing a slicer. MULTIVAC will be showing the R 095 at IFFA 2013 with the A 406 FB-MU slicer from Bizerba. The fully automatic slicer offers a wide variety of possible formats and placement positions for the sliced product, as well as an extensive range of options for pre-selecting the number and thickness of slices.
The slicer can also be removed if required. This is of benefit for example, if there is only limited space available in the packing room and unsliced sausage products have to be packed. Like all MULTIVAC machines, the R 095 is designed in the MULTIVAC hygiene design, which means that the machine and the slicer in this configuration are very easy to clean.
