LyondellBasell's Spheripol technology selected by SunAllomer
SunAllomer Ltd., a LyondellBasell Industries joint venture and one of Japans most established and successful polypropylene producers, has selected LyondellBasells Spheripol technology for a revamp project of one of its existing PP plants in Oita, Japan.
LyondellBasell has also granted a license extension to SunAllomer for the upgrade of its existing Spheripol process unit at the same site. The upgrade will enable the production of high performance PP copolymers.
The Spheripol process is widely recognized as best-in-class due to its superior economics, proven track record and ability to produce a broad and diverse product slate, said Just Jansz, President of LyondellBasells Technology Business. What is important is that the Spheripol process has again proven how through continuous rejuvenation it maintains its leading position.
As a key PP producer in a highly sophisticated market such as Japan, we must continuously maintain state-of-the-art capabilities, and find innovative solutions to address market needs, said Godard von Ilsemann, Chief Executive Officer of SunAllomer Ltd. These projects will enable SunAllomer to provide customers with more value-adding resins that deliver a competitive advantage.
In addition to the Spheripol process, LyondellBasells portfolio of licensed polyolefin technologies and associated technical services is comprised of:
• Spherizone latest generation polypropylene technology based on new multi-zone
circulating reactor technology
• Spherilene advanced swing gas phase process for the production of LLDPE, MDPE
and HDPE
• Hostalen leading low-pressure slurry process for the production of multi-modal HDPE
• Lupotech T leading high pressure tubular reactor process for the production of LDPE and EVA copolymers
• Metocene PP technology for the production of specialty polypropylene products using
single-site catalyst systems
