"Bioplastics in Packaging" Special Exhibition at interpack 2008
Biodegradable and bio-based plastics represent one of the most outstanding innovations for sustainable development. The European Bioplastics Association, in co-operation with the Duesseldorf Trade Fair, will be presenting a special exhibition “Bioplastics in Packaging” on this subject.
From 24th to 30th April, 40 well-known companies will be demonstrating how they produce packaging, and also clothing, ski boots and many more products from renewable resources. The special exhibition will take place in Hall 7a at interpack 2008, the world’s leading trade fair for packaging technology, to be held in Duesseldorf. As early as 2005, bioplastics were a powerful drawcard for visitors and media, attracting around 10,000 trade visitors. Raw materials, semi-finished products, products, processes, equipment and services using bioplastics technology will be on display.
Climate protection and resource management present enormous challenges but also provide fertile ground on which innovations which give high priority to sustainable behaviour will have a chance to flourish. Bioplastics and compostable packaging represent the plastics industry’s hope for the future. Their market has been developing with high growth rates for many years. Product range is
constantly expanding and performance improving. The industry is anticipating continued strong growth, and corresponding expansion of capacity has been announced by many companies.
