Innovative Promotion Pack Benefits from Sleeve Decoration

An innovative re-usable promotional pack, designed by Sonoco and Plastique for Gillette, features sleeves from CCL Decorative Sleeves that provide both decoration and tamper-evidence.

The thermoformed pack is being used for Gillette’s razor and shaving foam combination promotions. It replaces a blister pack format to create a more premium image on shelf which is more practical for the consumer, and easier to open. 

The sleeves are an integral part of this new packaging solution. The attractive designs enhance the pack’s image and on-shelf appeal, and provide the flexibility to create individual designs for each promotion, or multiple variants for different markets and languages. In addition, the sleeve provides top to toe decoration for the pack, with the provision of clear areas if required. 

Equally important, since the pack is easy to open, the sleeve ensures it remains securely closed during transit and on-shelf, delivering valuable tamper-evidence and helping to prevent products being removed prior to purchase. Also because the pack can be opened without damaging it, any unsold packs can also be broken down and re-used for a new promotion.

For the current promotion, the sleeves are manufactured in 50 micron PET and UV Flexo printed in eight colours, featuring a photograph of the product against a transparent background so that the contents of the pack are clearly visible.

CCL Decorative Sleeves worked closely with Sonoco and Plastique, providing technical advice to ensure the new pack design and sleeve were totally compatible, and assisting with application trials.
