Digital Printing of Variable Data and Graphics is now reality with CHAMELEONbyOMET

From 22 to 26 June 2015, OMET opened the doors of its factory in Lecco, Italy, to the visitors of IT'S TISSUE 2015 to present its most recent innovations: 4-color digital inkjet group for on-demand napkins printing and a revolutionary quick change embossing through magnetic plates.

During IT'S TISSUE 2015 event, OMET launched 3 modular units characterised by cutting-edge technology: CHAMELEONbyOMET^TM, KOALAbyOMET^TM and RACCOONbyOMET^TM.

CHAMELEON is the newest 4-color digital inkjet print group that has been shown in line on a TV 503 napkins machine. The major change introduced by CHAMELEON is the possibility to customize napkins and disposable placemats with printed variable graphics and data, different for each folded napkin or groups of napkins. Increase, in principle, the possibilities of customization, on one hand guaranteeing uniqueness of the product offered, and on the other hand widening the boundaries of what you can accomplish.

KOALA is a new modular unit introducing magnetic plates for the ‘quick change’ of embossing. KOALA speeds up and simplifies the embossing changeover introducing thin magnetic plates instead of heavy embossing cylinders. It is a revolutionary system that completely shifts the customer's perspective toward leaner and less costly operation. Basically, you get a considerable saving on the cost of equipment and shorten the time of new cylinders procurement. In addition, time for changeover and register setting is dramatically reduced. With KOALA, embossing becomes a customizable variable in the management of the customers’ requests.

Further innovation is represented by RACCOON, newly developed on-board plates washing system.

The visitors of IT'S TISSUE 2015 stopping in Lecco had the chance to admire a TV 840 Line completed in-line by a wrapping machine and a brand new FV Line vacuum-fold tissue converting machine for the production of napkins performing a breath-taking change of size and fold (ie. from dispenser-fold to book), by acting directly on the machine control panel. It is the first FV line equipped with in-line print units. A TV 503 Line has been displayed and run CHAMELEON digital printing group and the KOALA unit. A second TV 503 Line printed 6-color napkins at maximum speed.

IT'S TISSUE 2015 has been a great success with about 1.000 visitors coming from abroad to visit the 12 Italian companies of Tissue Italy network who opened their doors to show their continuous flow of innovative technology.
