Manchester’s Green Business Award winners announced

THE winners of the inaugural Greater Manchester Green Business Award were announced last night, to an audience of 800 guests at the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Dinner, held at Manchester Central Convention Complex.

Trafford Park manufacturer, EOC UK Limited, scooped the award for a Small/Medium Business and received its trophy from Mike Blackburn, Chair of the Greater Manchester Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and North West Regional Director of BT.

The award for a Large Business went to Stagecoach Manchester and was presented by Charlie Parker, Lead Officer of the Greater Manchester Environment Commission and Chief Executive of Oldham Council.

Clive Memmott, the Chamber’s Chief Executive said: “Our Annual Dinner was a fitting setting for celebrating some of Greater Manchester’s most forward-thinking businesses. Organised with ENWORKS, this new award underlines the Chamber’s commitment to helping businesses convert environmental risks and opportunities into the competitive advantages that will help Greater Manchester to grow and take a lead in the emerging low-carbon economy.”

The winners were chosen from a shortlist of 12, featuring organisations in the higher education, IT, manufacturing, professional services, property, retail, tourism and transport sectors.
