MULTIVAC receives the DuPont Award for the Heinz® Dip & Squeeze® packaging concept
MULTIVAC has received the prestigious DuPont Award of the packaging industry for its innovative Heinz® Dip & Squeeze® ketchup pack in the category of 'Innovations which change the way we eat'. The award has been presented since 1986 and takes into particular consideration those aspects such as sustainability and saving of resources.
"We are very appreciative of the recognition which the distinguished jury panel has expressed for the Dip & Squeeze pack", said Jan Erik Kuhlmann, President and CEO of the North American subsidiary of MULTIVAC, during the awarding of the prize, which took place in the middle of June at DuPont headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware in the US.
Consumer-friendly packaging solution
With the Dip & Squeeze® package Heinz and MULTIVAC have developed a particularly consumer-friendly single-serve ketchup pack. Its dual opening facility allows the consumer the choice of either squeezing the ketchup over the food or using the package as a dipping tray. The innovative package is produced on fully automatic, turnkey end-to-end packaging equipment from MULTIVAC.
Expert advice the decisive factor in success
The decisive factor in the success was the outstanding cooperation of both companies, from the start of the planning phase through to the final commissioning acceptance of the equipment on site at Heinz. "The success of this project is the result of years of hard work and cooperation between the engineering teams of Heinz and MULTIVAC", said Kuhlmann. "Together we have developed an innovative package, which decisively improves the customer's experience with this iconic product. MULTIVAC is in a position to be able to ramp up its resources and expertise worldwide when market sector leaders like Heinz want to enhance the value of their products and brands by means of a better package", added Kuhlmann.
DuPont Award presented for the 23rd time
The winning of the award is a great success for the Dip & Squeeze packaging concept. Within the packaging industry, the DuPont Award is the oldest award which is presented worldwide and judged independently. This year the internationally represented jury under the chairmanship of John Bernardo, Principal of the economics institute, Sustainable Innovations LLC, had to decide between more than 200 entries from North and South America, Europe and the Asia Pacific region.
