Aerosol Can Leak Testing

Bonfiglioli Engineering’s KBA series is being used worldwide for high pressure leak testing of empty aerosol cans at high sensitivity levels and at any line speed.

The New Approach for Filled Aerosol Leak Testing

Bonfiglioli Engineering’s RLD-400-A is used for leak testing of filled aerosol cans. Having the can maker testing with our KBA series, the latest modification in the United Standard UN/SCETDG/25/INF:93 makes way to the RLD-400 testing technology as a better alternative replacing the hot water bath test.

Testing is done by automatically closing a chamber on the upper dome of the can thus enclosing the valve area. Special sensors analyse the vacuum pattern rejecting faulty leaking containers accordingly. The RLD 400 – A machine is fully computerised utilising a SCADA platform. The software is easy to operate and includes utilities such as a products database, statistical reports etc. printer is also installed for printing test results and parameters. The machine includes and Auto Self Test system whereby the machine is self challenged by a calibrated leaker installed in every chamber as frequently as desired to assure 100% reliability. This machine can reach outputs of 2000 containers/min with a guaranteed reliability over 99.99%.

EASY OPEN ENDS / PEEL OFF ENDS

In this type of testing set up the end is enclosed between an upper and lower chamber. The upper chamber is pressurised until a predetermined pressure is reached or after a pre-set time elapses. If the End leaks then air will escape into the lower chamber. Depending on the pressure change in the lower chamber and the comparison of its value to a pre-set threshold limit, the tested end will either be considered good or otherwise rejected. The EOE machine can reach outputs up to 800 ends per min. An EOE 12028 leak testing machine will be demonstrated at the Bonfiglioli Engineering Booth METPACK 2008 Hall 3 stand 409.

Bonfiglioli has improved the design of the tooling and change parts system, in such a way that size changeovers are easy and faster. Thus increasing machine output. The new design requires only one single operator.

The latest Bonfiglioli innovation is the availability of remote assistance. This technology makes it possible for our engineers to offer immediate help to clients on the other side of the world when urgent solutions is required. All that is needed is an ADSL modem to telephone network.
