Brueckner Formtec CPP conference - a big success

Brueckner Formtec GmbH, member of the German Brueckner Group, has successfully presented their new 4.2 meter, 3-layer Cast Polypropylene (CPP) Line in full operation. During a two-day conference at the Brueckner premises in Siegsdorf/Germany, speeds up to 300 m/min at a film thickness of 10 µm were acclaimed by more than 150 international film specialists.

The CPP line shown features the unique, integrated pull roll design and proven Brueckner jumbo roll winding technology with patented LIWIND contact roll positioning and damping. These technologies are based on more than 40 years of experience in film business. Another result of this vast experience is the unchallenged operating safety of Brueckner Formtec CPP lines, defining a new industry standard.

Brueckner Formtec refined this know-how and thus created a unique solution for high performance CPP lines with film widths of up to 6m, speeds of up to 300 m/min and full width jumbo roll winding with diameters of up to 1.200 mm.

Julian Leingartner, product manager for CPP lines at Brueckner Formtec was enthusiastic about the excellent film and winding quality of the machine: “I am very pleased about the process stability achieved within only a few days of adjustment. The process control system with its intuitive, graphical user interface linking all production units was a key factor in fine tuning the machine setup, resulting in a superior film thickness profile of only 1% at 2-sigma standard deviation. Thus it provides a solid base for utmost productivity under all conditions.”

Key line facts of the shown line are:
• 4.6 m die lip width
• 4.2 m net film width on winder
• 10.000 tons per annum output for 3 layer film
• 1 x 175 mm main extruder and 2 x 105 mm co-extruders
• Automatic die gap adjustment with patented Brueckner TCE – Thickness Control with Evolution Strategy
• Integrated design Pull Roll Stand with oscillating edge trim, two-way Corona treatment and post cooling unit
• Gearless torque motors for optimum film guiding and tension control at all drives
• Edge trim synchronized oscillating turret winder with LIWIND system for best jumbo-roll quality
• Jumbo rolls with up to 1200 mm outer diameter
• Proven Brückner intuitive graphical interface for line control – total integration from raw material silo to winder (PLC)
• Optional integration of PLC into customers ERP system for best quality management
• Superior safety concept according to Brueckner standards

The line will be delivered to one of the biggest film producers in China and will in no time supply A-grade CPP films to their homeland and overseas customers.

The successful wet test is another proof for Brückner Formtec’s market approach to supply solutions for the rising demand of sophisticated and economical high capacity CPP lines for profitable film production.

Beside the 4.2 m CPP line in operation the full spectrum of Brueckner Group services, including the laboratory line, the film laboratory and the research facilities were shown to more than 150 attendants from the BOPP and CPP film industry worldwide.

The program of the 2-day conference was completed by a wide range of high-quality presentations regarding film industry matters. These were provided by renowned suppliers like Applied Materials, Borealis, PCI Consulting and also Brueckner Maschinenbau.
